Dayrift is built so that your events stay yours. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to sync it to your own private iCloud, and we don't collect any data about you at all.
The short version
Dayrift doesn't have a backend. There's no Dayrift server, no account to sign up for, and no analytics SDK watching you. Your events are stored on your iPhone using Apple's standard on-device database (SwiftData). If you turn on iCloud sync, those events are mirrored into your private iCloud — the same iCloud that holds your Photos, Notes, and Messages backups. We can't see anything you save.
In one sentence: the only personal data Dayrift "has" is the data sitting on your iPhone right now.
What we collect
We collect nothing. Dayrift does not send any data about you, your device, or how you use the app to any server we control.
The information you create inside the app — event names, dates, emoji, notes, photos you attach — is stored locally on your device. We have no access to it.
Where your data lives
Dayrift uses Apple's SwiftData framework to store your events in a private app-group container on your device. This is the same kind of on-device storage Apple's own apps use.
- Your events stay on your device by default.
- You can delete every event at any time from Settings → Clear All Events.
- Uninstalling the app removes the local copy of your data.
iCloud sync
If you are signed into iCloud on your device, Dayrift uses Apple's CloudKit to mirror your events into your private iCloud database. This is the same mechanism Apple's first-party apps (Reminders, Notes, Photos) use.
What this means in practice:
- Your data goes only to your iCloud — not to a Dayrift server.
- Apple's privacy practices apply to anything stored there. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
- You can disable iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → iCloud → Dayrift.
- We — the makers of Dayrift — cannot read your iCloud database. Apple's encryption prevents that.
Analytics & tracking
Dayrift contains no analytics SDK. There is no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Google Analytics, no Firebase. The app does not phone home about which buttons you press, how often you open it, or what you've named your events.
The app does not use any advertising identifiers (IDFA) and does not implement App Tracking Transparency prompts because it has nothing to track.
Third parties
The only third party Dayrift relies on is Apple — specifically, Apple's CloudKit service if you have iCloud enabled on your device. We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to anyone else.
Children's privacy
Dayrift is not directed at children under 13. Because we don't collect any data, we cannot knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you have concerns, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes when the update ships.
